Preliminary Application

Dear Applicant:

This is the first phase of the application process for an Explorers Club Discovery Expedition Grant. You should receive a response within 30-45  days of our receipt of the completed preliminary application as to whether the Club will request a full application from you for funding consideration. As a reminder, you do not need to be a member of the Explorers Club to apply for a grant, and the Club strongly encourages participation of local collaborators on all grant teams. For more information, please refer to the FAQs for this program that appear on the Explorers Club website.

Please note that the Explorers Club requires one year of exclusivity from grant recipients to tell the story of their expedition or field project through the program sponsor Discovery Inc., including television programming, web content, and a range of other content produced by Discovery. Grantees producing scientific, academic or technical publications can do so without restriction, though the Explorers Club requires notification on timing of such publication.
